Planting Grandma's Garden

Grace has become quite the experienced planter this year. She's helped me plant and transplant several items in our garden, and then she was also able to help her Great Grandparents plant their garden this spring.

We packed up practically the entire garage (dog, Grace's gator, Grace's rake, garden gloves, etc.) and headed up to Onida one Sunday afternoon. We had planned to help Grandma with her vegetable garden. Each year, Grandma plants quite the garden and gives the produce to half the family and then some! She's an amazing gardener, and we love the fresh items she shares.

Grandpa taught Grace all about the eyes of potatoes, and Grandma showed Grace how to make a row and plant the seeds just far enough away from each other.

Grace had a good time! What kid doesn't enjoy a little time in the dirt, digging for worms, and planting seeds in the ground. She's looking forward to heading up there again soon to see any progress the seeds have made, and of course, for later this summer when she can help pick veggies.

Oh, and this checks one item off our summer to do list!

27 Weeks

Bebe girl Richter is about as big as a head of cauliflower. She weighs about 2 pounds and is about 14 inches long.

Finally, I have some more pictures of the growing girl! Grace and I had a girls day date, and we were getting ready to leave and thought we'd snap a few photos.

How far along? 27, almost 28 Weeks
Total weight gain: About 14 pounds.
Maternity clothes? Yes.
Stretch marks? none yet
Sleep: still great, and the more the better. My tummy is starting to feel heavy when sleeping.
Best moment this week: So far, hearing that my cousin Reece and his wife welcomed a healthy baby girl Charlotte into the world!

Miss Anything? Sitting comfortably all day at work (not that I was ever that cozy comfy at my desk)
Movement: LOTS STILL! Think I felt hiccups for the first time tonight.

Food cravings: No.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope. Just the smell of garbage behind a restaurant at World of Fun in Kansas City where we changed the mascots - but let's be honest, it wasn't just me that was having a smell issue.
Gender: Girl!

Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Some back pain, feet are achy, nothing major.
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Good mood!
Looking forward to: Getting the glucose screening test out of the way, tomorrow, and shopping for baby girl bedding. Have some things in mind! Can't wait! I think we are waiting until July-ish until we switch Grace's room to be downstairs.

A Little Piece of Grace

A few weeks ago Grace was lucky enough to have both Cody's parents and her Auntie Ashley staying over at the same time. It was a perfect evening (the same evening Grace and Cody ran through the sprinklers) and we enjoyed just hanging out on the deck.

I've been terrible at having the camera out lately. I've even missed events like Grace's preschool performance and picnic in the park, and singing at Sunday school. Terrible. One thing I don't have to worry about is getting photos of Grace taken when my MIL is around. She's great at capturing those special moments, and she's always got her camera with.

These are all images taken by her, THANK YOU MICHELE, for taking these and getting a piece of "Grace" in each one!

Hanging out on the tire swing with curlers in her hair and her new watch from Grandma on

Grace and Auntie, doing what they do best. Dressing up, getting pretty, and flashing attitude.

Oh, speaking of attitude! I'm not sure if this looks more like myself or Cody! A terrible combination.

And my sweet girl and I swinging on the deck.

Don't mind my "I haven't showered today hair" and likely "same shirt Sunday," look I have going on. :)

I love how each of these images captures a little snipbit of our little Grace. From sweet and snuggly, to playful, and a little (or a lot) of attitude.

Hope that satisfies the need for some updates of Grace and what's going on lately. I know several that will still want some belly photo updates - you'll just have to wait on that one. I'm hoping to get to more blog updates soon before summer really kicks in and we're flying in full motion.

Get the most out of summer!

We've been working and playing hard lately. Mostly working hard - in the lawn and outside. I need to get some photos up, but Grace and I together came up with a list of summer "must do's" and I thought I'd finally make it blog official. Some of the items have already been checked off the list. Some will have to wait until nearly fall (like having a baby sister!).

So, here it is. We'll update as the summer passes, and hopefully most of those updates will have some photos to accompany.

This time, I only have a few photos to accompany. Spending as much time on the deck goes without question. It's only May, and we've already spent a good number of summer evening reading stories from the library, "going out to eat," and just relaxing.

One afternoon, when Cody's parents were at our house, Cody had the sprinkers on watering the lawn. Grace asked if she could run through the sprinklers, and before you know it Cody had scooped her up and they were off. And wet. And Cody was in jeans and closed toed shoes. Weirdos. Sure made her evening though!

Luckily, my MIL had her camera to capture the moment:

And the after...

This weekend I'm headed to Kansas City to bring the Mount Rushmore mascots around the area and tell everyone down there how stinkin' awesome South Dakota is. Cody and G will be home to fend for themselves, and maybe they'll even get a few items checked off the good old summer to do list.

24 Weeks

Bebe is as long as an ear of corn, and weighs about 1.25 pounds! Will probably grow as fast as the corn will grow this summer too! She feels so much bigger and stronger than what this depicts them as being.

Picture of Momma....psych, you'll just have to wait. I don't have any!

How far along? 24 Weeks
Total weight gain: 12 pounds-ish?! Seems like a lot! Yikes, gained a ton in the last few weeks. It's all worth it....right?
Maternity clothes? Yes! Some regular shirts and of course my regular dresses still. But needing the comfort on the waist line.
Stretch marks? none yet
Sleep: All is well!
Best moment this week: Our recent Dr. appointment. Fun to hear that little heartbeat again!

Miss Anything? Working as hard as I want to and used to around the house. Sounds silly, but this girl has things on her mind that she wants to get done!!! :) Good thing I have a great hubby who is taking on tasks like crazy.
Movement: LOTS! I think I have a baby vampire like Bella from Twilight growing in there. Crazy!

Food cravings: Nothing major, been liking dill pickles lately, and I usually don't.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not recently.
Gender: Girl!

Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Headaches...headaches...headaches.
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Good mood! Tired from a lot of traveling for work lately, but other than that, things are good.
Looking forward to: SHOPPING...still! I've picked up a few things here and there, but there is lots to think about getting in the coming months.
