One of my Favorite Gals

Here's my madre and my auntie Linda - she's one of my favorite gals! And bonus - she's coming to see me in a couple weeks! It means so much to me when family or friends travel all that distance because they love me and want to see me, my family, and our home. I am so excited for her and my uncle Craig to come out this way. Isn't this picture of her and my mom cute? They are best-friend sisters, and I love to spend time with both of them. So while the boys are out hunting, us four girls are bound to have a great time together.

Here are a couple more family photos from the wedding day, I have more pictures of the dance and shower to share later.
My mom and dad - I thought this was a really nice picture of them.

The five of us. Grace of course wouldn't show her charming smile for these.
Our lil family! What a beautiful October day this was!

I am so excited to watch Emily and Ryan share a life together - they are both great people and we are so happy they have found each other. Congrats to the two of them. Also, I am so happy for my Auntie Linda and Uncle Craig, they had such a nice reception for their middle daughter, so many family and friends were there to celebrate the next step in their lives together.
Thanks for a great weekend!
Auntie Linda - I can't wait to see you in a couple weeks! ;)

State Fair

Turns out the state fair was going on the same weekend that my dad was going "prairie doggin"...so he took a detour from his normal route up to the middle of no-where and dropped mom off in Huron to meet the three of us to head over to the state fair - yee-haw....right? Well, we had Martina tickets, so that a lot of fun - she's amazing!

Yum, state fair food!

Cody and I at Martina....Grace is not in the picture, because we were in a semi-meltdown mode. Cheers.

As you can see, Grace was very serious about putting "lip-stuff" on my mom and I. It was gooped on so heavily I think my lips about stuck together.

Animals! We had fun checking out all the different animals...I believe this was the exotic petting zoo...there were some strange things in there, I don't even know if I had heard of some of these guys!

Grace's favorite "ride" was the slide! She had a good time, and as you can see, so did mom! Fun!

My mom and G! Love this one.

Mmmm, what will this be?

Much like many of my projects, this one was torn from a magazine and I just had to do it....Well, it's been sitting idle in my basement for months..and months. Also, like most of my projects, it didn't turn out as intended, and frankly, is kind of iffy. Here is the prelude photos...What will it be?

Stay tuned. Project in completion will be posted soon.

"Various Stages of Dance"

"Wiggle Grandma" Michele caught these great pictures of Grace dancing while we were out for a (long) walk on La Fromboise Island a few weeks ago. We had a great time together, it was a gorgeous day for a walk and snapping some (a lot!) of pictures. I'll share more of the great pictures she took in another post soon. These are some of my favorites, and I cannot wait to see them in Grace's room.

Thank you Grandma Michele for taking these photos! They are "so Grace" and nothing really describes her better than these photos...what a happy, crazy, energetic little peanut.

Miss These Ladies!

Together forever, never apart. Maybe in distance, but never in heart...

"Wherever you are, it's your friends who make your world."
by William James

These are gals that I miss...I miss Lilibet's, I miss the faces of the gals who shopped there, and most importantly, I miss my co-workers! Not pictured is the fabulous Leslie, who I also miss! Kirstie Meyer took this photo of us, thanks to her, I have this picture to remember the beautiful faces of these lovely ladies who are very dear to me.

These gals always put a smile on my face...I will never forget the opportunities that they gave me at Lilibet's and the warmth of their hearts. All of these girls would do anything for anyone, and helping me out with my wedding was certainly no exception. They were fabulous people to have on my side during wedding planning and wedding day chaos.

Although I live far away from them, I think of them all often. They will always be considered some of my best friends.

“This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life.”

Things I love

Well, this post is a little bit different. I wanted to share with you a few things that I love, and have found inspiration in for my own home...Or things that give me ideas to do in our home. All of these images were found on www.bhg.com.

We have a ledge similar to this in Grace's playroom downstairs. I thought that this was a fun idea for once she not only gets tall enough to reach this height, but also for when she stars writing her letters (clearly! ;)).

Still trying to decide on which colors to put in her room...What do you all think, corals or the bright citrus colors?

Love pinecones for this season and into winter.

We have hundreds, literally, of pears from the decorations from my wedding. I love this look of greens with pinecones and fruit. I actually have already gathered some pinecones from the backyard, I'm usually cursing that trees from the needles that drop, but this time I was celebrating....and gathered some spare pears and pinecones together...Cute!

Love these stockings!

What a cute idea, love this! I cannot wait to try it out on my own!

Happy Halloween...

Quickly approaching, huh?

I have a bad taste in my mouth for Halloween...(Mom you might not want to read this post).

I'm convinced of two things from my childhood:
A. I only had a handful of birthday parties in my life
B. Halloween is lame, because I only ever got to be a bunny.

Now, of course, my mother tries to beef up these memories a little bit with supporting pictures..."multiple" birthday parties (I still think there were only about 4) and tons of pictures from me on Halloween. In reality, I think I was a bunny about 9 times, a cat once, and maybe there was a witch in there too.

Regardless, really, we teach our children to go to strangers houses and beg for candy? Weird, and totally backwards.

So, Grace was a tiger her first Halloween...a horse her second...and last year was a lady bug. This year, am I tempted to pull out a fluffy skirt and wings that she got from her auntie and call being a fairy good enough? Yes. Will I? Probably...we'll see.

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to share with you a slideshow that was put together by the South Dakota State Historical Society (under the same big government umbrella that tourism is). It consists of vintage Halloween postcards. I HEART THIS SLIDESHOW...love any vintage/nostalgic postcards.

Makes me think of a couple people and one place:
1. Auntie Linda
2. My mom
3. Jen Marthaler
4. Lilibet's
Which all equal LOVE!

Check them out and tell me what you think of them!

golfing

Golfing with dad...one of Grace's favorite things to do in the summer. One of my favorite comments from Grace while watching her dad golf...

Cody: is warming up, taking a couple practice swings...
Grace: "Dad...YOU MISSED!" in her super loud, non-golf-course-etiquette- voice. We continually have to remind her to keep her voice lower, especially when throwing out embarassing comments towards Cody!

Ahhh, summmer...where have you gone already? There might be a couple more opportunities to get out on the greens again...we'll see.
